Project overview

Located in Jacksonville, Florida, the $4.2 million, 10,150 square-foot renovation transforms the University of North Florida’s athletic facilities within the UNF Arena. The project revitalizes the men’s and women’s basketball suites and the women’s volleyball suite, creating an environment that unites performance, recovery, and team culture.

The renovation also introduces shared training and rehabilitation spaces, a spa therapy area, and a dedicated media room for review sessions and team gatherings, reinforcing the university’s commitment to an elite student-athlete experience.

Design approach

The design channels the Osprey identity, a symbol of strength, motion, and pride, into an architectural language of light, color, and movement. Dynamic linear lighting traces circulation paths, team colors define atmosphere, and bold geometry visually links the suites to the arena beyond.

Developed by PQH Group Design, the renovation transforms the main corridor into a “hype tunnel,” synchronized with arena lighting and sound to heighten anticipation as players enter the court.

Spaces were designed around athlete well-being and function:

• Team suites with lounges, nutrition zones, and rest areas
• Custom lockers crafted for performance and storage efficiency
• Rehabilitation and spa areas supporting recovery
• Media room for analysis and team connection

The result is an environment that merges energy and precision—modern, resilient, and unmistakably Osprey.

Impact

The renovation strengthens the University of North Florida’s identity as a leader in collegiate athletics. Beyond facility upgrades, it unites preparation, recovery, and competition into a cohesive experience that reflects the pride and spirit of the Ospreys.
