Project Overview

Located in St. Johns, Florida, the Surgery Center of Durbin, also known as the North Florida Surgeons Ambulatory Surgery Center, is a new facility designed by PQH Group Design to expand access to high-quality outpatient surgical care across the region. The $15 million, 15,702-square-foot center will include four fully equipped operating rooms and nineteen recovery bays, ensuring efficient patient flow and advanced post-surgical care.

Set for completion in August 2026, the center is planned around principles of operational clarity, patient comfort, and staff efficiency. Its design supports the growing community’s demand for modern, specialized surgical services while advancing North Florida Surgeons’ mission to deliver accessible, technology-driven healthcare.

Design Approach

The building’s organization prioritizes patient-centered flow from pre-operative preparation through recovery, minimizing transitions and improving outcomes. Clean, intuitive circulation zones distinguish patient, staff, and equipment paths, allowing for safety and efficiency in daily operations.

Natural light, calming color palettes, and comfortable waiting areas create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that supports both patients and families. Integrated technology infrastructure allows seamless communication and data management throughout the care process.
